Mubarak Tower, Kuwait: 1001m, 250 floors.

The proposed skyscraper to dwarf Burj Dubai will be located in Madinat al Hareer or "City of Silk" in Kuwait. The interesting thing about this project is that they don't even have the city there yet. The city (actually four inter-connected cities) is going to be built in 25 years.

"The City of Silk, described as "the new Manhattan", will cover a 250 sq. km site in Subiya, Northern Kuwait — transforming the area into a hub for up to 700,000 people.

The project will create a major new city at the gateway to the famous Silk Route across central Asia, and will be linked to Kuwait City by a new bridge — the Jabir Al Kabir"

The skyscraper could house 7000 people, but would cost an estimated £84bn to construct and could take 25 years to complete. It will also feature the world's first triple-decked elevators to move people up and down efficiently. The name of the 1001 metre tower is actually "The Burj al-Kabir Tower" (The Tower of 1001 Nights)

manusia makin mengila membina bangunan pencakar langit di sana sini...dan apabila sesuatu project itu berjaya...maka perasaan hasad dengki dan persaingan akan berlaku sesama arkitek untuk membina bangunan pencakar langit yang lagi tinggi...lagi gah...lebih dikenali dimata dunia...manusia memang tidak pernah puas...aku yang terlibat dalam industri ni pon mengalami perasaan yang sama...tapi bile tengok semakin banyak bangunan pencakar langit ni kan...tidakkah ini mengingatkan kita bahawa kiamat itu semakin hampir...tanda2 dunia di akhir zaman apabila bangunan pencakar langit terbina macam cendawan selepas hujan...tidak takutkah kita??

apakah itu senibina belon??

senibina belon boleh dikatakan sebagai peniruan secara langsung elemen sesuatu style senibina dan diadaptasi kepada satu style senibina lain...sebagai contoh...penerapan nilai senibina melayu tradisional ke dalam senibina moden...

contoh senibina belon yang terdapat di Malaysia adalah podium ibu pejabat Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad (BBMB) di Kuala Lumpur. Senibina belon yang dikaitkan dengan reka bentuk podium ibu pejabat BBMB itu ialah ia meniru secara terus reka bentuk rumah melayu kelantan dengan dibesarkan beberapa kali ganda, sedangkan bangunan yang direkabentuk tersebut bukan lagi sebuah rumah melayu. Perumpamaan 'belon' pada senibina tersebut bukanlah dari segi bentuknya tapi keadaan fizikal rumah tersebut yang dibesarkan berganda dari saiz yang asal.

hasil daripada senibina belon ini boleh memberi impak yang negatif kepada masyarakat luar bahawa pemikiran para arkitek di negara ini mengenai senibina tidak berkembang...

maka...para designer di luar sana..elakkan dari mengunakan style senibina belon jika tidak mahu di cop 'berfikiran sempit' dan ketandusan idea...

~aku suke suasana studio 07 bsc architecture sem ni....studio ni actually memang da jadi contoh kepada department ni sebab di design macam office & studio paling besar...kitorg panggil studio ni 'studio cubical'

~the best thing is bukan environment cam office je...malah ade byk kemudahan laen yang kitorg sendiri wat

suasana cam office(kononnye)...biase la sepah2...name pon studio budak archy--ni meja mayamin

kat bahagian belakang studio kitorang ade "one stop kioks"...macam kedai runcit...siap budak2 studio laen datang membeli-belah kat cini kol 3-4 pagi--ni hakim & the geng nye idea

kat bahagian depan studio plak ade 'mini cinema'...baru je bukak cinema ni...first cite yang ditayangkan adalah cite 'fobia'...memang seram gile...tengok kol 2 pagi ramai2...paling best esok ade design...crit session plak tuh...sume hanyut....--ni idea naz sbb die sponsor laptop

ni tempat maen game dalam studio ni...ade byk lagi tapi diorang suke maen game kat tempat raden...mlm2 memang cam arced kat shopping complexs nye bising

hoh?? apekah tajuk di atas??? tp hakikatnye kenyataan di atas sangat2 la ade btolnye...xcaye? kalo korang betol2 archy student korang mesti pernah:

-the taste of uhu/PVA glue
-changes in your vocabulary: homework to project, ball to sphere, etc
-you hate people telling you "go to sleep" or "do you still have a lot of work?"
-your friends and you don't have the same concept of work
-you've slept more than 20 straight hours on weekends( yeah...)
-you can easily discuss with authority the effects of caffeine on different drinks
-no matter the effort you put in a project, somebody will always say “why don’t you add this? or “why don’t you change this here? or “i think that…but…yeah, its ok?
-you’ve heard all your songs in your laptop/ipod in a week
-you aren’t seen in public without bags under your eyes
-you constantly make up excuses for courses that are not design related why you didn’t do your work
-you have more pictures of landscapes and places than of people
-your worst nightmare consists of not finishing a project
-someone once called you “lazy? and you wanted them murdered
-you can live without human contact, sunlight, food, but if your plotter’s ink runs out… chaos!!!
-you don’t care about sports cars, your favorite car is the one where you can put in your model and your huge computer
-you design spectacular things without the idea of the cost

why seven wonders...urmmm....actually i always thinking that why wonders of the world got to be something more to architecture??? (thats why i am taking this course...wishing my masterpiece can be one of them......of course NOT that level yet lorrrr~~dreaming~dreaming~~)















The Taj Mahal (1630 A.D.) Agra, India

This immense mausoleum was built on the orders of Shah Jahan, the fifth Muslim Mogul emperor, to honor the memory of his beloved late wife. Built out of white marble and standing in formally laid-out walled gardens, the Taj Mahal is regarded as the most perfect jewel of Muslim art in India. The emperor was consequently jailed and, it is said, could then only see the Taj Mahal out of his small cell window.

The Roman Colosseum (70 - 82 A.D.) Rome, Italy

The Pyramid a t Chichén I tzá (before 800 A.D.) Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

Chichén Itzá, the most famous Mayan temple city, served as the political and economic center of the Mayan civilization. # my comment= I learn about this pyramid when I was in 1st year study...if i am not, mistaken some pyramids during aztec and mayan era were said to be build by the giant that once roam the place...after the completion of the pyramids, these giant turn into gods, their gods...haha...so funny...their god build their own worship place for human to homage them...this is my understanding lah...

Christ Redeemer (1 93 1) Rio de Ja neiro, Brazil

The Great Wall of China (220 B.C and 1368 - 1644 A.D.) China

The Great Wall of China was built to link existing fortifications into a united defense system and better keep invading Mongol tribes out of China. It is the largest man-made monument ever to h ave been built and it is disputed that it is the only one visible from space. Many thousands of people must have given their lives to build this colossal construction.

#my comment= I wish i can come here someday...it was a great citadel but unfortunately in the process to build this great wall, thousand lives were sacrifices...

Petra (9 B.C. - 40 A .D.), Jordan

On the edge of the Arabian Desert, Petra was the glittering capital of the Nabataean empire of King Aretas IV (9 B.C. to 40 A.D.). Masters of water technology, the Nabataeans provided their city with great tunnel constructions and water chambers. A theater, modelled on Greek-Roman prototypes, had space for an audience of 4,000. Today, the Palace Tombs of Petra, with the 42-meter-high Hellenistic temple facade on the El-Deir Monastery, are impressive examples of Middle Eastern culture.

Machu Picchu (1460-1470),

PeruIn the 15th century, the Incan Emperor Pachacútec built a city in the clouds on the mountain known as Machu Picchu ("old mountain"). This extraordinary settlement lies halfway up the Andes Plateau, deep in the Amazon jungle and above the Urubamba River. It was probably abandoned by the Incas because of a smallpox outbreak and, after the Spanish defeated the Incan Empire, the city remained 'lost' for over three centuries.
